Hey friends,
I hope you’ve been well! Sorry I haven’t been writing much these past few weeks. I actually started “pre-writing” about today’s happy thoughts weeks ago, but lost track of time to post. I’m very certain that time has been moving faster since the year is winding down. Honestly, I’m ready for this year to be over. I’ll give a more lengthy update soon, but for now, let’s talk about planning ideal weeks.
What is your ideal week? This thought has been bugging me for some time now.
This question was asked as part of Ali Abdaal’s Sunday Snippet, (another email newsletter that’s pretty cool and should be checked out). He posed the question “if you can plan an ideal, normal week in the next year or two, what would your ideal week be like?”
At first, my mind went to “I wouldn’t want to work at all. I’d be playing video games with my buddies and traveling to places I’ve never been to.” Or something along those lines. But the more I thought about it, I realize that’s kind of exhausting. I like seeing different places and taking vacations, but I’m not a fan of moving around to different places for a whole week.
Then, my mind went to “For work, I’d be making Youtube videos with a small team, making people laugh, maybe even making some merch or digital products to sell online to my (hopefully) adoring fans. Then on my off days, I’ll be cooking barbecue for my family, trying (probably failing) at some sort of diet and exercise, and maybe sneak in some gaming”. Now that sounds a lot closer to what I want, and it’s a lot more “me”. But it appears more like a wishful idea than a possibility.
There were other versions of this “ideal week” I made in my head and it hit me: the activities I’d do during my ideal week are the same activities I’m doing right now. To me, that’s reassuring that I’m on the right path.
If you’re reading this, what is your ideal week? And how different is it from what you’re doing right now? And if they’re very different, what can you do to get closer to that ideal week?
Have a great weekend,
-Francis

🎧Tech - Sennheiser HS99SE
Amazon.com: Sennheiser HD 599 SE Around Ear Open Back Headphone - Black : Electronics
I’ve been wanting a pair of open back headphones for a very long time. Especially for the more natural-sounding audio. And after a week of using it, I’m having mixed feelings. I love the sound, it’s super comfortable, and I can wear it for long work sessions. But I absolutely HATE the fact it’s wired. So now, I’m switching back and forth between this and my old headset.
🎬YouTube - Finzar
Ed from Film Booth made a video about an editing battle between himself and another editor named Finzar. And I got immediately hooked to his style. His flow is smooth like butter, he chucks memes at you like you’re playing dodgeball, and I love it. His editing style demands your full attention and I hope I can learn more stuff from his videos.
🍳Cooking - King-Griller Charcoal Grill
Ever since the pandemic started, I’ve been learning how to cook barbecue. And for some reason, it’s actually some therapeutic. It’s nothing fancy, but the process is slow and can take hours to prepare and then cook. I have been using a $20 grill I bought in Walmart and it hasn’t been holding up well this past year. It got to the point where I even lost the lid. But long story long, I bought this new grill from Amazon and it really feels like it matches my growth in grilling.
